✦ ART PROCESS ✦
Once I get the brief, I dive into some research and check out any references that might be helpful. Next, I create the first very schematic sketches to see how the composition and idea come together. Then, I refine those sketches into something more detailed. And finally, it’s time to add some color!
✦ ABOUT ME ✦
Hi! I’m Susana Gurrea, a freelance illustrator based in Barcelona, Spain.
In my universe, you’ll find gentle characters and vibrant colors inspired by nature, magic, and everyday life. Through my detail-rich illustrations, I seek to convey joy, calm, and sweetness, creating worlds where animals, humans or magical creatures like fairies play and interact together.
After studying Illustration and Comics at various art schools, I completed a postgraduate degree in illustration for children's publications and began working as a freelance illustrator. Since then, I have collaborated with publishers and brands worldwide, creating from picture books and activity books to sticker collections. My work has been published in countries like France, the UK, the USA, Belgium, and Spain.
